Frequently Asked Questions

I just added an additional monitor to my computer and AutoWallpaper isn’t showing any wallpapers on it, what’s happened?
Your licence doesn’t cover your new monitor, if you would like to upgrade your licence to include your additional display please use the support form and I will happily send a PayPal invoice for the difference.

AutoWallpaper isn’t accepting my jpegs, what gives?
AutoWallpaper expects jpeg files to have the file extension of .jpg, your jpeg files probably have the less popular .jpeg file extension. Please ensure you are running version 4.1.2230 or higher for .jpeg file support.

Can I set one monitor to use a single image?
AutoWallpaper requires all categories to have at least 2 images, so when you create a category that is assigned to a specific monitor you should make a second copy of the image you want and add both copies to the category. Also, you should disable the ‘prevent reoccurring wallpapers’ option.

How do I upgrade to version 6 from a lower version?
You can upgrade from any previous version to the latest by using the Upgrade Licence button on the purchase page.

I’m having difficulties registering, can you help?
If you have entered the registration details and the software still won’t register. Check and ensure you are running the latest version and check to make sure that you haven’t made any typing errors, such as zeros instead of capital O’s. If you are stilling having trouble please send me an email using the support form.

No matter what I do my laptop keeps changing the background scaling option to Stretched in Windows 7?!?
This is caused by a bug introduced by the manufacturer of your laptop, probably HP. You will need to contact HP or search their website for a patch to fix the issue.

I think I’ve found a bug?
No matter how carefully you test an application some bugs will no doubt sneak in somewhere. If you think you’ve found a bug in AutoWallpaper please email me using the support form with as much detail as possible:

Include a screenshot of any error messages, the steps taken to reproduce the error, details about your system (operating system, ram, background applications, etc).

Can you add feature X to your product?
I am always open to suggestions on how to make my products better. Many features have been added thanks to suggestions from the AutoWallpaper user community. If you have a suggestion please email me using the support form.

Do you have a blog where I can keep track of all the latest developments?
Indeed I do. It is located on my main website at http://www.arsoftware.co.uk/blog
AutoWallpaper doesn’t seem to be working properly anymore, what can I do?

If you regularly use file cleaners, or your system has crashed, some of the AutoWallpaper files may have been damaged. In this case the best solution is to open AutoWallpaper, click the About button, then click the Prefs button, an explorer window will open with the preferences files, delete this folder, then uninstall AutoWallpaper.

Afterwards you can safely reinstall AutoWallpaper and the issue should be resolved. You will need to reconfigure your settings and categories. If you need any additional help please email.

AutoWallpaper 6 is crashing and complaining about Out Of Bounds?
This can be caused when you upgrade from a much earlier version. The best thing to do is to delete the preferences and start AutoWallpaper again. On Windows the preferences are located in C:\Users\your username\App Data\Roaming\AutoWallpaper (note, the App Data folder may be hidden), On Mac the preferences are in a hidden folder in your Documents folder.

Didn’t find the help you needed?
