  • A small bug that may prevent the preview window size from saving properly.

5.1.2835 - 3-Jan-2010

  • It is now possible to resize the thumbnail window displayed when clicking a wallpaper in your category list. Simply, click a wallpaper to display the thumbnail window, then hold down the Control key, move your mouse over to the popup window and resize it as normal. Once you're done let go of the Control key. New thumbnail windows will now display at the new size.
  • Fixed the calendar background tint not covering all rows when the number of displayed rows is above 7 (i.e. 31 days in Jan and set to display start of week as Sunday).

5.1.2822 - 15-Dec-2009

  • Base code reverted to previous compiler to correct compiler update issues.
  • Creating a category no longer causes a crash
  • Current Wallpaper window no longer crashes under Windows XP (SP3)
  • Calender background tint now displays with user selected font and size

5.1.2806 - 13-Dec-2009

  • Corrected a number of additional unforeseen errors brought about by compiler update. Subfolder option is working again. If you are currently running a lower version than 2722 it is recommended that you stay with that version for the time being.

Known issues
A number of issues have presented themselves with the newer builds. The calendar back tint only works with a set font size and font family. The current wallpapers window may crash AutoWallpaper.

5.1.2805 - 12-Dec-2009

  • Corrected a number of unforeseen critical errors when creating categories

Known issues
A number of issues have presented themselves with the newer builds. The calendar back tint only works with a set font size and font family. The current wallpapers window may crash AutoWallpaper. There are also a few rare crashes being detected on the category listing. All of these issues are being looked into but I felt it necessary to get the initial problem corrected quickly.

  • The calendar overlay now has options for adding a tinted box behind the calendar. There are options for colour, transparency and spacing.
  • Current Wallpaper browser (accessed via tray menu) has been completely rewritten to be easier to use. You can now see thumbnails of the active wallpapers.
  • Deleting images from within AutoWallpaper now move the image to the trash/recycle bin rather than just deleting them.
  • An unsupported keyboard shortcut is now available Ctrl+Alt+W can be used to force a wallpaper change. This is a test feature and is not 100% functional yet.

5.0.2614 - 25-Oct-2009

  • Corrected a problem using images that have single quotes in their filename
  • Added initial code for handling Windows 7 special features

Known Issues:
Autorelease pool errors are generated in a hidden console while AW5 is running on OS X 10.6, this is something to do with recent Apple OS changes and incompatibilities that this has generated with my programming language. I am actively looking for a solution. [MAC]

Windows 7 users should disable the CPU Usage option and instead specify any specific applications to prevent AW from cycling wallpapers instead. I will investigate a solution as soon as possible.

  • Removed dock icon for the wallpaper cycling process (again) [MAC]
  • The 'Use Image Meta Data' option will no longer reactivate when updating categories

Known Issues:
Autorelease pool errors are generated in a hidden console while AW5 is running on OS X 10.6, this is something to do with recent Apple OS changes and incompatibilities that this has generated with my programming language. I am actively looking for a solution. [MAC]

5.0.2595 - 3-Oct-2009

  • Corrected a critical error for new setups. When attempting to create the very first category on a clean install AW5 would crash. Second startup would allow the correct functionality.

  • Adjusted description text on New Category dialog.
  • Corrected display glitch with image preview window.

5.0.2584 - 26-Sep-2009

5.0.2583 - 19-Sep-2009

  • Initial release of version 5. Please consult website and user guide for full details.

Known Issues:
[WIN] On Windows 7 the CPU usage functions do not work correctly and you are advised to disable them. You can still use 'lower CPU priority' options though.
[ALL] Some image meta information may cause the category update to fail.

4.2.2246 - 18-Apr-2009

  • Mac Edition now has an option to hide the application icon from the dock Please note this option is experimental and needs to be applied after each update.
  • AWProc icon no longer shows in the dock when a wallpaper cycle is in progress.
  • Drag and drop functionality has been fixed on the Mac
  • The wallpaper log has been fixed, the limit has also been increased to 250

Known Issues:
[WIN] AutoWallpaper will state there is a newer version to download, this is incorrect. Open the 'version.cfg' file in the installation folder and change the value to '4.2.2246' to temporarily correct the problem. An updated installer will be released shortly to correct the file.

  • Fixed the 'Add' wallpaper and drag and drop functionality

4.1.2230 - 4-Apr-2009

  • Fixed the ability to add new images to a category by dragging and dropping the file(s) onto the wallpaper list. Previously jpeg files required the traditional .jpg file extension. Thanks to the help of a new user AutoWallpaper can now handle .jpeg files as well.

4.1.2215 [WIN] - 14-Mar-2009

  • The screensaver addon has been temporarily discontinued. Current users of the screensaver will still be able to use the addon as normal, however new installations do not include the screensaver and the preferences tab will not be displayed.

Known Issues:
.jpeg files cannot be imported

4.1.2209 [WIN] - 1-Mar-2009

  • Fixed an additional glitch that may prevent the screensaver from starting under certain conditions.

  • It is now possible to specify the background colour of Picture in Pictures
  • Symbols in category names are now automatically removed to avoid a configuration problem
  • Categories tray menu has been altered to ensure compatibility with StarDock Cursor XP

4.1.2191 - 19-Jan-2009

  • Fixed a glitch that caused the used papers internal list to expire before all available wallpapers had been used.

4.1.2187 - 29-Dec-2008

  • The main window is now shown by default when starting AutoWallpaper.
  • A new setting has been added to start AW minimized/hidden.
  • Mozaic effect - You can now specify a seperate category for the mozaic tiles when the larger central image option is used.
  • A new resizing option has been added for very small images. You can now specify a percentage scale to restrict small images from being oversized.
  • Better support for misaligned monitors. Previously if you had a monitor that was larger in height than your primary monitor and positioned so that it wasn't aligned with either the top or bottom edge AutoWallpaper failed to generate a valid wallpaper. v4.1 fully supports this type of alignment. Note: AutoWallpaper doesn't support vertically aligned monitors.
  • An option has been added to force a wallpaper change as soon as the category profile has been altered.
  • Screensaver has been updated to version 4. This new version no longer relies on a list of available wallpapers; which made the initial startup process very slow for huge libraries of images. The Screensaver now uses the same datastore as AutoWallpaper does, this means that there is no restrictions on the number of images the screensaver can handle.
  • Screensaver timing option is now displayed in seconds rather than milliseconds. The image size display under the image thumbnail has been corrected. AutoWallpaper should no longer crash if a drive that had a category on is no longer available (i.e. external drives).

4.0.2159 - 20-Dec-2008

  • Added preferences button to main window.
  • Added text label to help avoid confusion with Profiles.
  • Updated user guide.
  • Reintroduced the ability to swap categories from the tray menu [WIN]

4.0.2142 - 9-Dec-2008 (Mac 13-Dec-2008)

  • Corrected a glitch with the sequential wallpaper cycling whereby images from the wrong categories would appear on the wrong monitors.

Known Issues:
If you have a landscape monitor and at least 1 portrait monitor that is not aligned at the top or the bottom of the primary image tearing will occur. This issue currently has no estimated completion date.

4.0.2138 - 7-Dec-2008

  • First v4 Mac Edition release

  • Moved Import Folders option to a new Setup menu, I've also added New category and profile options. Next update will also include a full category update menu item, to allow the button shown on the category window to perform a single category update.

Known Issues:
Misaligned monitors that are above the primary may experience a tear in the generated wallpaper. This is being investigated.
